Some Favorite Herbal Tea Recipe Books

I love herb teas or tisanes, and like to play around with different combinations and flavors. Starting out on your own with single herbs is great, but there may come a time when you want to try something more, whether just for enjoyment or maybe a little something in the medicinal tea department. That’s when having a recipe or two helps.

I thought I’d post a few of my favorite herb tea books here. You can find many more online or at your local book store but these are a great starting point.

If you decided you want to play with a few teas before buying books check out the post on having your own tea party! Inviting a few friends over for tea blending and cookies is not intimidating , lots of fun, and is an easy way to get started.

Herb Tea books

First up-

The Herb Tea Book : Blending, Brewing, and Savoring Teas for Every Mood and Occasion by Susan Clotfelter

This small book has a good bit of info about tea tools, history and plenty of recipes from herbalists, gardeners and growers. There are also recipes for green teas and chai. I really enjoy herbal chai so that made me happy!

Next up,

Herbal Teas : 101 Nourishing Blends for Daily Health & Vitality by Kathleen Brown- with recipes developed by Jeanine Pollak

Another great book with tinctures and lots of teas both yummy and medicinal. The tea I like the best (purely for its name) is “If I Only Had A Brain” tea. There is a nice section in the back of the book with a glossary and  description of the herbs used and their health benefits.

…And finally,

Healing Tonics :101 Herbal Concoctions to Increase Energy, Boost Immmunity, Enhance Memory, Ease Digestion and Support Daily Health and Wellness by Jeanine Pollak

Another great book packed with info from herbalists around the country, and this book isn’t just teas. Nope- it has smoothies, teas, soups, syrups, elixers and so much more.  Don’t you love the word elixer ?

I do ?

Any (or all) of these books are a great start into the world of herb teas. I’ll bet you will learn a lot by using and blending your own herbs.  Have fun!
